Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures

implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient completion of the installing of hand held underground ground support, including:

selecting and fitting the appropriate personal protective equipment

inspecting and assessing site conditions and taking resulting actions

conducting equipment pre-start and shutdown activities

demonstrates completion of installing of hand held underground ground support that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

using approved dust suppression and extraction methods

connecting auxiliary equipment

scaling loose material

erecting boundaries

installing reinforcements

conducting equipment shut down


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in installing hand held underground ground support through:

operations

start-up and shutdown

hazard identification and risk assessment

monitoring operations

recording and reporting

work health and safety

inspection of equipment

isolation of equipment

relevant hand and power tools

dewatering procedures and characteristics

geological and technical data

ground support characteristics and applications

manufacturer’s specifications

identifying stope areas
